About the Journal

Revista de Ciencias de la Educación is the scholarly journal of the Instituto Calasanz de Ciencias de la Educación (ICCE), the Calasanz Institute of Educational Sciences. Founded within the Piarist Order (the Order of the Pious Schools), it was created to professionalise the work of teaching and to bring scientific rigour to educational practice, and for decades it was a leading title in the Spanish-speaking world. It now begins a new series, in digital form and open access.

The journal aims to bridge research and schools. It publishes work that connects real educational problems with theoretical argument and evidence, from any methodological approach —quantitative, qualitative or mixed— and welcomes replications and null results. Its thematic areas are learning and assessment; teacher education and professional development; equity, inclusion and the Sustainable Development Goals; technology and artificial intelligence in education; school organisation, leadership and education policy; and subject didactics. True to its Piarist roots, it maintains an explicit emphasis on schooling in disadvantaged communities, on vulnerable contexts, and on education as a driver of social justice.

The journal welcomes research articles, studies and essays, evidence-based accounts of practice, methodological notes, book reviews and a dedicated section for undergraduate and master’s dissertations, with developmental editorial support. All submissions except book reviews undergo double-anonymous peer review. The journal adheres to the COPE code of conduct, requires a statement of each contributor’s role following the CRediT taxonomy and a statement on the use of artificial intelligence tools, and accepts work previously deposited as a preprint.
